Long Distance Trails Crew

Surebridge Mountain Worktrip
Friday, April 19, 2024
8:30am-3:00pm

The Long Distance Trails Crew is returning to Surebridge Mountain in Harriman State Park to complete the AT relocation in progress.

We can and will use all the help we can get.

Please come out and join us. You'll be glad you did.

On Friday-Sunday April 19-21, the LGTC will continue with the relocation of the Appalachian Trail on Surebridge Mountain in Harriman SP. A section of new trail is being built at the eastern end. Part of this will be a section of sloping trail being cut and raked through the woods and brush. We will also be building steps out of the bowl section and at the end where the relocation rejoins the existing trail near Greenwood Mine. We will start by bringing in tools and rigging on Friday, so we can use all your help. Please come out and join us.

We will meet at the Tiorati Circle Parking Area (GPS Coordinates 41.27544, -74.08893) and shuttle in 2+ trucks to get in past the camp entrance off Arden Valley Rd, and then hike about 0.75 miles to the worksite.

Meeting time is 8:30am - we will leave around 8:45am and we end work at around 3:00pm. Then, we will take a return ride back to the parking lot for our end of day crew meeting.

MANDATORY:  Bring water, work gloves, snacks for break time and your lunch.

Safety glasses and hard hats are required. Please bring those if you have them. If you do not have your own, safety glasses and hard hats will be provided. Also recommended: long sleeve shirt, long pants and sturdy shoes/work boots.

Required Paperwork: Please complete the Volunteer Service Agreement prior to coming out for the work day.

If you have any questions or concerns, please call Chris Reyling at (914) 953-4900.
